Battlefish  was born when two fishermen met on Hatteras Island in North Carolina’s Outer Banks and became close friends.
Both share a deep passion for fishing and decided to build something that would honor the knowledge passed down to them by mentors, captains, family members, and generations of fishermen before them.

One founder is an avid offshore, inshore, and surf fisherman who has spent years learning the waters, building relationships with captains, mates, and fellow anglers, and sharing knowledge with others who share the same love and respect for the ocean.

The other founder is a fifth-generation fisherman from Hatteras Island, carrying on a proud family tradition rooted in the waters of the Outer Banks. As a descendant of William Wallace, whose story inspired the film Braveheart, and the grandson of Earl Styron, who served aboard Lightship 114 (WAL-537), stationed off Diamond Shoals. On October 15, 1954, the crew of the lightship endured Hurricane Hazel, one of the most devastating Category 4 hurricanes in history to strike Hatteras Island. 

Together, we felt a responsibility to share what we have learned and pass it on to both seasoned fishermen and the next generation of anglers just starting their journey.

Every Battlefish rig has been tested and proven on the waters of Hatteras Island and throughout the Outer Banks. These rigs have been refined over years of real-world fishing and are designed to help anglers effectively target and catch fish in a variety of conditions.
